Okay, so it wasn't exactly wild. Still, things didn't go quite according to plans, did they Nancy? See Nancy Richards-Akers site for more harrowing details of our trip. TUESDAY - July 22
Had a wonderful welcome to Texas with Jenny Jones, in her bookstore, BOOKSHELF, in Grand Prairie. The cake was yummy and the gifts were wonderful. See Nancy's site to discover what presents Jenny gave us. |
Ann Rydzel of B. DALTON in Richland Hills treated us like royalty, including carting us around Dallas/Fort Worth. |
while Lisa Clevenger of WALDENBOOKS, in Arlington, TX made us feel right at home. |
| THURSDAY - July 25
Oops! An unscheduled incident. Our WalMart signing in Tyler, TX because a little harrowing when their warehouse accidently shipped our books out to Walmarts throughout the Texas area instead of to Tyler. But thanks to Chris Bates, we were made to feel again like royalty. Did we mention the radio spot we had in Shreveport? Where Nancy and I were all set in our motel room to be interviewed on a talk radio show? Little did we know that the talk show host had just been fired the day before -- and the radio management couldn't find us to tell us. There we were waiting and waiting, afraid to call the station because we would tie up the telephone. Luckily, Nancy eventually remembered she has a cell phone and we were able to call the station and discover what had happened. Oh, well. Because of the error, the radio gave us something probably better than the interviewL Free air time all day long advertising our booksignings at Books-A-Million and at the Potter House Cafe and Bookstorein Clinton, MS. |
| FRIDAY - July 25 Onto Shreveport and a wonderful booksigning at the Shreveport WalMart. Bob Young and Ron Stanform really put on a good show. ![]() |
| SATURDAY - July 26 Another fantastic booksigning at Books-A-Million in Jackson...
Christine Sistrunk gave us a tour of Olde Town Clinton. Beautiful streets, old buildings, massive, moss laden trees. It had been a long time since I'd heard crickets and locusts. What a great booksigning Deanna Craft and Debbie Nobles put on for us at the Books-A-Million in Hattiesburg. And what a quaint, beautiful town! There we also met Features Editor for the Hattiesburg American, Robyn Jackson. ![]() |
| MONDAY - July 27
Another WalMart signing in Hattiesburg -- met a great number of people who I will always remember. TUESDAY - July 28 Onward to Pensacola and a room on the beach -- Did I mention our room was on the BEACH? Nancy swam in the water, while I worried that the dolphins were sharks. And then, we were off to booksignings on Elgin Air Force Base. I must tell you that Nancy and I take our research seriously. And so it was only to presumed that Nancy and I were caught red-handed, half out of our seats, heads turned, in the act of watching all that gorgeous hunk of male beauty parading before us. |
| WEDNESDAY - July 30

| Well, you might wonder, after several
mishaps and the incident when I wouldn't let Nancy turn the TV station
off of the Country Music Station, are Nancy and I still friends?
You bet. In fact, along with friend and fellow author, Heather Cullman, we're planning more and more signings. Watch out USA! You might be next! |
